America’s Next Top Model creator wants to wear ao dai
Former American supermodel Tyra Banks, creator and host of the world- renowned reality show “America’s next Top Model”, has expressed her desire to wear a Vietnamese ao dai at the final show of Vietnam’s Next Top Model 2011 this weekend.
After accepting the invitation from BeU Model and Talent Management, the company which manages the winners of Vietnam’s Next Top Model, Banks will present at the final round of the contest on January 8th.
“In the meantime, Tyra is VERY interested in wearing an Ao Dai on camera- perhaps for the press conference, photo shoot or the live finale? Tyra thinks it would be amazing, diplomatic and respectful to honor your culture by wearing anAo Dai,” Banks’ representative said in a message to the Vietnamese show’s organizer.
Under the plan, Banks will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on January 7 and stay at the InterContinental Asiana Saigon Hotel.
The beauty will also hold a press conference the next morning before attending the final round that night to crown the contest’s winner.
After the final show, Banks will visit Vietnam’s beautiful natural landscape, most notably Ha Long Bay.
According to BeU Model and Talent Management, Tyra has never attended another country’s Next Top Model show.
Born in 1973 in California, Banks was accepted by both the University of Southern California (USC) and the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), but declined to attend either school and pursued a modeling career instead.
In 2003, she created America’s Next Top Model, which has become a television phenomenon and has been licensed in more than 120 nations and territories thus far.
The final episode of Vietnam’s Next Top Model 2011, to be broadcast live on VTV3, will also feature Huyen Trang and Tuyet Lan, the winner and runner up of Vietnam’s Next Top Model 2010, respectively, and all finalists from this year’s contest.
